June is National Dairy Month and is a great way to start the summer with nutrient-rich dairy foods. Dairy products contain nine essential nutrients which may help to better manage your weight, reduce your risk for high blood pressure, osteoporosis, and certain cancers.
We all know dairy products have a short shelf life in your refrigerator – but with a home freeze dryer, you’ll not only reduce food waste, you’ll increase the versatile food in your long-term food storage. Freeze-dried dairy products are some of the most useful ingredients you can have in your pantry.
In this short video we freeze dry shredded cheese, cream cheese, yogurt, and raw eggs. Freeze drying dairy products makes it simple and convenient for future use. Dairy products are great for baking, cooking, food storage, and so much moo’re!
How do you make those cute yogurt drops that you see in the jar?
We just put yogurt in a small Ziplock sandwich back and then cut a little corner off and just squeeze the yogurt out into drops on the freeze dryer trays. It’s just a cheap way to get a pastry bag, but it works perfectly for yogurt and you can just throw the bag away when you’re done.
Watched video, but would be great to know how many hours to freeze and how many hours cycled to dry? Your videos never give the cycled hours for any of the foods you are freeze drying:)
Thanks Judy
Someone just gave me 5qts. Of heavy whipping cream. Can I freeze dry it?
